uk.net.goths go to Japan
Part II
Due to the immense sucess of the first trip, the london net.goth
contingent will be returning for another day outing to Yaohan Plaza in
Colindale.
...But this time life is more complicated. The last 1/2 price showing of
The Woman in Black is the same day. The solution:
one big happy day out for everyone (with weird bits in the
middle)

Events for Saturday, 22 February, 1997
Wake up early, cos we're meeting at High Noon. Everyone will meet at
Colindale tube station at noon. If it's
raining we'll meet in the station. If not, we'll be outside waiting in
Collindale Park; the lovely parklet accross the street from the tube
(see map). Early arrivals can sit on the bench.
Once we've all arrived (or given up waiting for
the stragglers), we'll walk over to Yaohan
Plaza, bypassing all temptation and heading straight to the
food court! Where we can partake of a myriad of Eastern
culinary delights. the plan is to forcibly annex a large table and sit
while waiting for the number of our chosen dish to be shouted
incomprehensibly from the tannoy. The food is mostly somewhat not too
expensive Japanese, Chinese, Korean or Malaysian dishes . That which
you can't find in the food court, you can probably find in the
supermarket right next to it.
After we're all done eating we can split up and shop
for stuff.

Get on the Northern Line, going north
on the Edgeware branch. Get off at
Colindale. We'll be the large group in
muted colours standing around in the park across the street. Tho, if
you decide to dodge the fare and come out running, we'll pretend not
to know you.
By Bus
Forget it. No worthwhile busses go to Colindale.
By Car
If you're coming by car, tell me!
so we don't wait for you forever at the tube station
(It'll be much easier to park at the mall).
Follow the A1 into London after leaving the M25 at junction 23, head
towards Hendon and keep an eye out for signs to Colindale.
Colindale
Yaohan Plaza is a Japaneese owned mall, one of a chain which also has stores
in the US. The whole concept is that Japaneese people shop there and get all
the stuff they need to live life as they did back home. It's rather nice for
those out these with Japaneese fetishes (food, books, anime, Sanrio, etc)
The mall has got a bunch of little stores for you to shop in to
your heart's content. The stores (in rough order by
location) are:
- Big Sega video arcade.
- Asahiya Shoten, a book store. Lots of books in Japanese,
but some in English. Buckets of Anime.
- A few cheap pound store-like things.
- That store with every Japanese dish/bowl/whatever you'd ever want
- A pathetic excuse for a clothing store
- something which sells really expensive stuff, very little
of which is Japaneese.
- Big open space which often has some sort of market or
something. There's no special events that weekend, so it might just be
a big open space.
- The fun supermarket where you can get every Japanese
(and alot of American)
food-related product you'd ever want.
- Sanrio - for your Hello Kitty and Kero Kero Keroppe fix.
- A few random chocoalte and video store type things. Yes,
you can buy chocky coffe beans
- Random other stores with random stuff.
