The Solar Eclipse

Pictures taken from my Solar Eclipse Trip 1999; Dieppe, France. All in all it was well worth going to see even if we did have a bit of a problem ordering a steak 'well done' cos we can't speak any French. I know a few obscure unconnected French words and Pete knows how to say 'the monkey is in the tree'. Sad really...

Oh I must really warn you that there are no actual pictures of the moon covering the sun cos the camera didn't like the idea (arse!).

Me
Looking grim onthe train to Rouen. French train stations are way too weird. The trip there took 13 hours ish (hence the above photo) and cost me about £200....I must be mad.

People
August 11 1999, a beach in Dieppe. These are just a few of the people who came to see the eclipse.

Eclipse
This is the eclipse pic but the digital camera didn't pick it up as well as our eyes did, *tsk* technology eh.

Panoramic Sunset
As the sun went it got much colder and the sky over the sea lit up orange and purple like a panoramic sunset. The automatic street lamps down the road lit up and the birds flew away. Definitely the oddest thing I've ever witnessed. I'd love to see another one.

One Man and His Dog
Hmmm nice shorts (not). Lots of silly French peeps peering at the sun. This was taken when the sun was half obscured.

Rouen
Rouen was nice. I like the way they had a British bar with a barman who didn't speak a word of English. Nice cheep alcohol though so you can't complain.

Le Chat
'Le Chat' that invaded the hotel room and wouldn't go away (probably still whinging to be let in from the balcony as we speak).

Frog
Falcon getting into the French look or something. Some say it's a bad idea to go on a mini holiday with your ex
but we are both still alive (just)
.
